Can technology make culture easier to enter without making culture feel more technological?
Case study
Problem
Can technology make culture easier to enter without making culture feel more technological?
BRF26 — the Berlin Ramen Festival — runs 9–11 October 2026 at KOMPLEX Berlin, Modersohnstraße 35–45, 10245 Berlin. The organiser projects approximately 13,000 visitors.
The Signal Atlas source dataset, checked on 2 October 2026, holds 43 exhibitors — 11 ramen, 12 streetfood and drink, 20 craft and culture — and 36 programme sessions.
The festival is supported by Nissin Foods and Kikkoman, who bring festival experiences; Kirin with beer; Suntory Global Spirits with highballs; Yuzuka and Matchaty with drinks; and fritz-kola with soft drinks.
For three days the festival is a temporary city: dense, plural and easy to get lost in. The question is whether one intelligence layer can make it easier to enter while the culture stays in front.
Evidence
- source-backed festival dataset: 43 exhibitors and 36 programme sessions
- Festival Mode path: Home, Map, Vendors, Programme, Explore, My Festival
- intent layer: EAT, DRINK, DISCOVER, WATCH, LEARN, SHOP
Implications
Culture becomes easier to enter when information is organised around what a visitor wants to do — eat, drink, discover, watch, learn, shop — rather than around the technology serving it.

03 — Role
Studio product · cultural partnership.
I.O.V builds Signal Atlas and co-founded Berlin Ramen Society. The angle is cultural intelligence, product architecture and editorial systems, with a live festival as the proving ground. This is the studio's own work, not external client work.
04 — Three moves
Structure source-backed vendor and programme information into one dataset: who is there, what they serve or make, and when each session runs.
Use the existing Festival Mode path — Home → Map → Vendors → Programme → Explore → My Festival — and six plain intents: EAT, DRINK, DISCOVER, WATCH, LEARN, SHOP.
Put the layer in front of the real event and learn whether it is useful to visitors. Usefulness is the question the festival will answer; it is not yet claimed.
